Taking place on 25 January 2025, this exciting event is not only a test of endurance, but also the first qualifying race of the year for the prestigious Two Oceans Ultra Marathon and the legendary Comrades Marathon—the Ultimate Human Race!
The Red Hill Marathon is a race with a rich history. Celebrating over 40 years of endurance and spirit, it started as a training run for the Peninsula Marathon. Originally covering 36 kilometers, the race later added a six-kilometer loop, providing a true challenge for marathon qualifiers. A pivotal moment came in 2008 when a veld fire caused last-minute route changes, leading to the creation of a new race medal and logo featuring three flames, forever remembering that fiery event.
This year’s marathon promises to be another thrilling chapter, with three electrifying race categories to choose from:
- The Marathon (42.2 km): A true test of grit and perseverance.
- The Classic (36 km): A unique and exciting challenge for those seeking something special.
- 13 km Challenge: A fast-paced, scenic run for those craving a thrill.
The action kicks off bright and early at 5 am for the 42.2 km and 36 km races, while the 13 km race will get underway at 6:30 am. All races will begin and end at the vibrant Fish Hoek Sports Fields, creating an electric atmosphere for both runners and their supporters. Plus, the ever-popular 5 km race starting at Bay Primary School is a firm favorite with kids, and Chippie will be there, cheering on participants and bringing plenty of fun to the day!
