Timbercity 50th Birthday Giveaway Competition
Terms and Conditions
1. The promoter of the Competition is Timbercity, a brand within The Building Company (Pty) Ltd (“the Promoter”).
2. The name of the Competition is “Timbercity 50th Birthday Chest Freezer Giveaway Competition” (“the Competition”).
3. The Competition will run from Monday, 17th November 2025 to Saturday, 31st January 2026 (“the Competition Period”).
4. By entering the Competition and/or accepting any prize (if you are a winner), you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
5. The Competition prizes (“the Prizes”) to be won include the following:
5.1 1 (One) of 10 (Ten) Main Competition Prizes consisting of a DMF 511 Defy Chest Freezer (146L, white in colour) (“the Prize”).
5.2 1 In-store Spot Prizes consisting of Timbercity Branded Merchandise. The specific Spot Prizes won by the customer will be determined by the attending staff member serving the customer at the time of entry and could be anyone (1) of the items listed below:
5.2.1 a Hertum Cooler Bag;
5.2.2 a Vista Recycled PET 750ml Water Bottle;
5.2.3 a Snappy Bottle Opener Keyholder;
5.2.4 an Eco-Logical A6 Notebook & Pen.
5.3 The Spot Prize issued to the customer will be determined by product availability and is at the sole discretion of the promoter’s representative in-store.
6. The Competition is open to all participants within South Africa that are South African citizens (in possession of a valid South African ID) and South African residents (in possession of a valid South African permanent residency permit). You are not eligible to participate in this Competition if:
(a) You are a director, member, partner, employee, agent or its affiliates/divisions/ subsidiaries or any other person who supplies goods or services in connection with the Competition.
(b) You are a spouse, life partner, parent, child or sibling, immediate family member, business partner or associate of the persons specified above.
7. To enter the Competition and stand a chance to win, participants will need to do the following:
7.1 Spend a minimum of R2,000 (two thousand Rand) in a single transaction at any Timbercity store, using either cash or card during the competition period.
7.2 Scan the competition QR code displayed in-store to access the electronic entry form.
7.3 Complete the online entry form by providing your name, contact number, email address and sales order number.
7.4 Locate the Competition Jar at the sales counter and guess how many screws, hinges, or nails are inside.
7.5 If your guess is correct, you’ll win a Spot Prize from the Timbercity Branded Merchandise range.
8. Participants may enter more than once during the Competition Period, however, entrants are only eligible to win one (1) Main Prize.
9. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any user who enters using false information by entry forms or like means.
10. Main Prize in this Competition is not transferable or exchangeable for cash.
11. There will only be 10 (Ten) winner per prize.
12. Winners must collect the prizes in person and present their valid original South African ID or permanent residency permit. No copies will be accepted.
13. The draw for the winner will take place on Friday, 06 February 2026. The winners will be chosen randomly from all the valid entries.
14. Winners will be contacted by the Store Manager within 48 (forty-eight) hours of the draw.
15. An alternative winner will be drawn 48 (forty-eight) hours from the date of announcing the original winner if that winner is not able to be contacted using the details provided.
16. Timbercity and their delivery agent does not accept responsibility or liability for any loss or damage and will also not be responsible or liable for any further expenses or fees required for the purpose of using, applying or enjoying the prize won in this Competition.
17. Winners give Timbercity and its authorised agents consent to use their names for publicity purposes, unless consent is explicitly withheld.
18. Timbercity reserves the right to vary, suspend, postpone or terminate the competition and any prizes, or any aspect thereof, for any reasons whatsoever and without notice. In such event, you hereby waive any rights or expectations which you may have against and acknowledge that you will not have any recourse or claim of any nature against Timbercity.
19. Your privacy is very important to Timbercity and it will use reasonable efforts to ensure that any information, including personal information, provided by you, or which is collected from you, is stored in a secure manner.
(a) You agree to provide Timbercity with accurate and current information and to maintain and update such information when necessary.
(b) The information collected by Timbercity may be used to send you information about products, services, and special offers of the various companies in The Building Company group that may be of interest or value to you.
(c) The information may also be processed by Timbercity and other companies in The Building Company group, any of their operators, agents and sub-contractors (who may be outside South Africa) on the condition that they will keep such information confidential.
(d) You acknowledge that any information supplied to Timbercity in terms of these Terms and Conditions is provided voluntarily.
(e) By submitting any information to Timbercity in any form, you further acknowledge that such conduct constitutes an unconditional, specific and voluntary consent to the processing of such information by Timbercity under any applicable law in the manner contemplated above, which consent shall, in the absence of any written objection received from you, be indefinite and/or for the period otherwise required in terms of any applicable law.
(f) Unless you have consented, Timbercity will not sell, exchange, transfer, rent or otherwise make available any personal information about you (such as name, address, email address, telephone or fax number) to other parties and you indemnify Timbercity from any unintentional disclosures of such information to unauthorized persons.
(g) Should you believe that Timbercity has used your personal information contrary to applicable law, you shall first resolve any concerns with Timbercity. If you are not satisfied with such a process, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
24. You can choose to be excluded from direct marketing by notifying Timbercity in writing or by registering a block on any registry which Timbercity is bound by law to recognise. Timbercity will not charge you a fee to update this request on its systems. Timbercity will give effect to any changes requested by you as soon as reasonably possible.
